as found on yahoo news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070921/film_nm/justiceleague_dc;_ylt=AksjTIcHiHlLYJ_FZzOSkVowFxkF"Happy Feet" director shooting "Justice League" By Borys Kit Fri Sep 21, 2:28 AM ET
"Happy Feet" director George Miller is in talks to bring the superheroes of the "Justice League of America" comic books to the big screen.
While details about the script are being kept close to the vest, it is known that Warner Bros.' live-action movie will feature such A-listers as Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Aquaman, the Flash and Green Lantern as well as the Martian Manhunter.
Preparations are being made to shoot to the movie in Miller's native Australia.
One thorny issue the production needs to deal with is casting. Warner Bros. is in production on "The Dark Knight," a sequel to "Batman Begins," starring Christian Bale, and is in development on another Superman movie with Brandon Routh as Clark Kent/Superman. Those two actors will not reprise their roles for the "League" movie as the studio is intent on keeping all of its superhero movies as separate franchises. "League" also is looked at as a launchpad for other comic book movies.
As such, the studio is hoping to cast the movie with lesser-known actors, and an international search is under way.
The smaller names in the movie will help with the second issue facing the production: budget. A "League" movie was long thought impossible simply because the thinking was that any undertaking would break the bank on big-name actors and special effects. On the effects front, media like animation were considered before deciding to stick with live action. Miller's "League" will be effects-intensive. Some motion capture likely will be used as well.

I'm sure it will be interesting anyway. I don't like that they plan on using different actors for Superman and Batman...it would be one thing if they didn't have current movies, but they do, so it will seem weird if there's someone else playing those characters in the JLA movie.
Anyway, I like Marvel's idea of creating the movies for their individual characters first, and then putting them all together in an Avengers movie. That makes me happy.

While I like that way too, looks like Marvel is changing it's perspective a little. Or the may be a lot of disgruntled old fans (although I guess that doesn't matter in the long run really)
Marvel movies are in an interesting spot now actually. In the Ironman movie, Nick Fury will be played by Samuel L Jackson (who the Ultimate version of Nick Fury is designed after, so it makes sense). But, when going with the Nick Fury movie, having it be Jackson would piss off a lot of the old time fans. And just as many fans will be pisse doff if he's changed. This should be fun.

Booo! I was hoping for the same actors.

I hadn't heard that Nick Fury would even be in the Iron Man movie. Weird.

I saw it a while ago on IMDB, where Jackson is already in the cast list (although the extend of his part remains to be seen). There is also an unhealthy amount of debate who should play Nick in the Nick Fury movie.

Booo! I was hoping for the same actors. That would've been what I'd hoped for too. But, at this point, if they do get Ryan Reynolds as Flash, I guess it'll be off on the right foot. And my money's on Sam Jackson as Fury, if there's a spin-off. I don't think the legions of old time Nick Fury fans are as plentiful as, say, Spider-Man's, so using the modern interpretation which has become generally accepted by younger fans, seems the most bankable option. Plus, you know, it's Samuel L. Jackson. The man convinced me to watch a movie about mother&*%^ing snakes on a mother&*%^ing plane. And I enjoyed it, solely because of him! The dude's box-office gold. (Although, it would be nice, if they got, say a younger actor and did a more supped up version of the Bourne flicks, with kick-ass action but on a hella large scale) (Alright, now I'm getting fanboyish...)

See, I'd have to disagree. Sam Jackson is a fantastic actor (this isn't against him) but aside from having this be about ultmate Nick Fury, I don't see a reason to change it. I could understand it for say Daredevil, where it was the proportions of the actor that were a big deal, but there are several actors that could fill Nick Fury's shoes, young or old, that could be the traditional Nick Fury.

In the end, all this probably hinges on how cool people find Jackson's portrayal, I guess. I mean, hey, as long as they have a David Hasslehoff cameo, I'm cool!

Getting back to the Justice League movie... the "none of the established actors" thing may not just be a choice from the studio. Also from yahoo. news.yahoo.com/s/eonline/20070921/en_movies_eo/85f5b480_ec4a4e00_99ef_0589cc26f6cd&printer=1;_ylt=ApPA1aC1U.lkrMnt5HR81R7AG78CThe part I mean is Per Variety, Warners is taking heat from Batman Begins director Christopher Nolan. The filmmaker is petitioning the studio to postpone JLA until after he's finished with the Caped Crusader projects he has in development, including The Dark Knight, which is wrapping production in Chicago for release July 18, 2008.
The director fears that a separate (and possibly campier) film featuring Batman could hurt Nolan's successful reboot of the DC franchise. His star, Christian Bale, has expressed similar sentiments and won't reprise the hero for Justice League

A far reaching assumption of every superhero movie, isn't it?

I think most people saw the Blade franchise as an action series, not a comic book series.
On a slightly unrelated note, I cannot believe Justin Timberlake is with Jessica Biel! GodDAMNit, did that man sell his soul to the devil or something??
