so, it's been a while now, I' going to ask. Does anyone here actually care about the next generation dvds?
I'm starting to lean to no. I don't want to
A) buy a special player just to watch a new dvd (although it came with something else that was bought)
B) buy every movie over again because eventually the new won't accept the old, or spend an extra 5 to 10 bucks on something "special"
Don't get me wrong. I do see the difference. If I flip back and forth between "normal" and "high def" But normal doesn't bother me enough to consider it a sound investment.
How about the rest of you? Do you think it's worth the difference?

I figure it's only a matter of time before the next gen of home entertainment (whether it's one of these two options or something else entirely) pushes DVDs the way of the VHS. At the moment, neither of them interests me and I'll stick to DVDs until we find out what the new standard is.
That said, I'm pretty sure the newer players will be able to play normal DVDs as well. Here in Singapore, we went through the VCD period first before DVDs made it big anywhere, but DVD players here are still able to play VCDs. It only makes sense to have a player that can play older formats.

God, I hope they don't go to something newer like that anytime soon. I would hate to have to rebuy movies I already own, and I hate that HD and Blu-Ray cost so much more. I hate change!
I've also never watched anything HD or Blu-Ray, so I have no idea what's so special about them anyway.

I've also never watched anything HD or Blu-Ray, so I have no idea what's so special about them anyway. The picture quality is shockingly good. The sound, with the right system, is also clearer. HD and Blu-ray stuff, to me, is perfect for summer blockbusters and concerts.

I don't have a preference. I'm content to sticking with DVD for now.
