Yay for taking a half day off for a doctor's appointment only to realize the assistant screwed up and didn't MAKE the appt. Going in about an hour now.
Anyway, so we bought the movie, and I have to say it was much better than I expected. Some great one liners and dialog snippets. Enjoyed that fact rather than having cgi every few seconds it was saved for the scenes when it really mattered. The plot may not have been very deep, but it was a fun ride.

You didn't see it in theatres?? Oh yeah, right, of COURSE you didn't. Anyway, yes, it was enjoyable, at least for me who was never a fan of the original show/toys/movies etc.

It was definitely funnier and more entertaining than I expected but the more I think back on it, the more it bugs me.
A friend of mine wants to do a double-feature of the animated movie and the new movie. That will be awesome.

That could be interesting. What bugs you about it though?

The designs still look ugly to me. It's just a jumble of jagged metal. And the fight scenes were just blurry metal all over the screen. It was hard to tell what was going on. And Frenzy was lame.

See, I actually liked that part (the many pieces of metal) but that's just me and my twisted mind.

I don't know. Kind of the point of a movie about giant robots fighting, I would think, is being able to watch giant robots fighting, not blurred extreme close-ups of jagged metal jumbling around. Zoom out! Stop cheating on the CGI effects!

I do see your point. However, I am glad that he didn't go the other way, having robots on screne doing something every few seconds and eating up the budget.

I'm fine with the amount of time the robots were on screen. I just wish I could've actually made out what they were doing a bit more.
