So my friend and I are planning a weekend road trip to Vermont!
Lil, I know you live near that area (New York state), so tell me: if we were to go around November 9/10/11, for example, would it still be pretty or are most of the trees going to be leafless and ugly? We've looked a bit into what's cool in the area, and we discovered Manchester, VT. Has some cool areas apparently. We'll have to look into it a little more and see what specifically we can go visit. We like to hike too, so any trails will be awesome too.
Anyway, we're excited! Yay!

Hard to tell really Jeff. The last few weeks have been unseasonably warm, so that would be a good thing. But, it is starting to turn cold quick, so you may still miss it. It may not be the prettiest it could be, but vermont or hardly ugly

Sounds like fun, though!

Well you'll have to keep me posted. I really just can't imagine all leafless trees being pretty, though.

uh, how? Here in New York trees are JUST starting to turn colors, but I can't vouce for Vermont. If we go by what New York looks like, next week would be better probably.

One of my favorite things is walking through leaves on the ground in the Fall.

Well New York is pretty much level with Vermont in terms of location, just more east...so theoretically the trees should be the same? How far from the Vermont border are you, Fran?

technically, not far, butit seems depending on which way the wind blows the weather is very different. It's kind of like Albany and Buffalo (also in New York State) in winter. We may get 2 feet at a time, they get 10 feet of snow. I just checked weather channel's web site www.weather.com/outlook/driving/fallfoliage/regiondetail/vt3?from=from_ff_reg_txt , and they are saying peak is now. So you might come just past peak.

Well, will all the leaves be gone 'just past peak'? Hmmm...maybe we shouldn't go this time of year....gah.

Past Peak means that some trees will be bare, and others about half bare. some late comers will be mid peak though. But since your trip isn't for another 2 weeks, I wish I could tell you something better.
