info hereIf been thinking about this for some time, but waited mostly because my first experiment with fish at 13 ended disasterously (mainly because I was young, stupid, and kept the tank in my bedroom, therefore turning the airpump and light off at night so I could sleep. I was at the time told that just overnight would not be a problem) I have to say I'm pretty suprised by the article listed above. they recomend a 5 gallon tank for just one fish. I can understand that it would be ideal, but overkill too (aside the fact I haven't got the space for that). for now, I have a 1 gallon tank (no, I'm not doing the cup thing, and yes, it has a filtration system etc) So, now here's the problem. I want a name. And I want to stick with the pattern we've got going now (As Duke, Jack and Minka all have Ks in them somewhere). First instinct was get a blue fish and call him Hank, but then I have a cousin hamed Henry, an ex uncle named Henryk (polish for Henry) and my best friend's dog is named "Hank". While I know she won't care, the cousin and Ex uncle might (yes, he's still a part of the family, just not married to my aunt anymore). So, plan B is Kurt, and again getting a blue fish. But I'd really love to hear some other suggestions. Please? Pretty Please?

Kurt is a cute name for a fish! I love it! I also love betta fish...I've had a few in my lifetime. They never live too terribly long in the span of things, but they are pretty awesome.

lol, yeah, well my experiment with fish lasted about 6 months or so after it started (leaking tank, too close to the window and the heater etc).
Now I just have to find one with a nice blue tail then.
Pet shop employees must get it pretty bad though. When I picked out my tank, I wasn't sure if I needed a heater, so I waited for the available knowledgeable associate, who jut finished lecturing a young family as to why salt and fresh water fish could not co habitate. When I told her what kind of fish I was interested in, she became VERY concerned and said "Please tell me that you understand why you can only have one of these fish at one time" Which I of course already knew. Next to her stood the classic seasonal employee who had no idea what either of us were talking about.

So, I picked up my fish today. I'll post a picture one way or another after I find the digital camera (my brother had it last, so we'll see when it will be found).

Gah.... really, the stupidity of people is becoming shocking. I was again in a pet store (fish is fine, just needed something for his tank to hide in) and before me was a family who just bought a massive tank and a single (if largeer) fish. Apparently having had some bad luck before, the mother is only interested in the return Policy of new fish (which apparently for Petsmart is 2 weeks). She went on to ask if she would need to bring a water sample as proof (oh can't you just see where this is going?) Then I remembered reading the fish return/refund policy in the store where I actually bought my fish. "Full refund issued within 1 week of purchase with register slip and whole dead fish. leftover pieces of fish not acceptable"
